We’re presenting another All-Dayer on Saturday 21st September, following the success of our Windrush Day 12 hour event. For this event The Deptford Dub Club features the original Moa Anbessa Soundsystem. They are a classic, late 70s, deep roots collective. This session will feature foundation members Man Fi Bill and Wolfman. Expect roots reggae at its very best, in traditional style and fashion.

Hailing from Battersea; Moa Anbessa first played out at the beginning of 1977. Its core members served their apprenticeships with the even more venerable Lord David Sound. The classic 70s Moa Anbessa System was founded by former members of Lord David’s and played against all of the other great Sounds of the era, as well as with more diverse out-fits, like The Slits. This performance will be a truly historical conclusion to our day of Reggae, Rocksteady and Ska.

Moa Anbessa quickly gained a reputation as one of the most prominent Rasta-oriented Sounds in Britain, gaining residencies at historic venues such as Club Norick, the Four Aces, Studio 200 and others – nuff said. Their affiliated record label issued tracks by Creation Steppers, Jah Thomas, Delton Screechie, Early B, Little John and King Everald, among others. Expect late-70s and early-80s Rasta reggae vinyl classics and plenty of exclusive, unknown dubplates.

Moa Anbessa ceased regular operations in the very early 80s, despite their enormous popularity. So it’s a real coup to get them back, live and in the house. This is not the modern Italian Soundsystem with the same name, but the real deal.

Warm up selection will come from Dub Club stalwart Mikey from Rebel Audio Vision Hi Fi.. Resident Soft Wax will be on the decks too. He’ll be joined by Doc Murdoch’s distinctive vocal stylings — his vocal presence have become a feature of the D.D.C.. Joining them will be various guest singers and players t.b.c., in the normal style and fashion.

All afternoon we’ll be featuring Reggae Fox Reggae Hi Fi in the garden ( weather permitting.) Yes sir, they’ll be warming up their big rastaman dub machine outside from lunchtime onwards til 8, when we’ll move indoors. Thoughout the afternoon they’ll be welcoming a host of top notch guest selectors. Do not fear, if the weather interrupts, Ready foxReggae will just move indoors.

In traditional style, we will be playing the best in foundation Jamaican roots music; from Ska, through Rocksteady and classic, vintage Reggae, to the present, throughout this extended session. All the selectors will be digging extra deep into their musical dub-baskets for this event. This session is bound to be really kicking; so don’t forget your dancing shoes and celebrate the rhythm. We eagerly expect this to be one of our most memorable sessions making maximal use of the fabulous garden at this convivial boozer.

The Deptford Dub Club happens every month, on the penultimate Saturday and is FREE til 9 and £3 thereafter.

The Fox Presents: Doctor Victor with support from SLATER

Having recently opened for AC/DC, Prague’s own Doctor Victor will be returning to the Fox this September bringing with them their own brand of hard rocking riffs and down and dirty rock ‘n’ roll. A night not to be missed.

And if that wasn’t enough, we have a late night after party with DJ’s spinning until 2am! Be sure to rsvp or better yet, get your tickets in advance.

No effects, no guitar pedals and so on. This is DOCTOR VICTOR! The band released their debut album “1st PRESCRIPTION” on 21st of March 2016. 2 months later they were chosen by AC/ DC as their support-band for a Prague show!
In 2017, after touring in UK, DOCTOR VICTOR recorded solo album of Dan McCafferty, lead singer of NAZARETH. New single StandUP got successfully into TOP6 Eurovision Czech Song finals in 2018,
50 radio stations in ITALY and appeared in popular mobile app Musical.ly.
