DESCRIPTION:Since its founding in 1999\, Strut has become one of the leading labels for reissues\, compilations and new studio albums in the field of African\, Caribbean\, Latin\, jazz\, soul and disco. Expect a deep dive through their catalogue plus fresh finds from the Strut crew. \nAbout Strut: \nDuring our early days\, we released the first Nigeria 70 and Disco Not Disco compilations\, as well as documenting some important milestones in dance music history including DJ sets from Grandmaster Flash and Bristol’s Wild Bunch. \nRe-launched in 2007\, in conjunction with Berlin’s !K7 Music\, we continued our journey with four compilations selected by London DJ collective Horse Meat Disco alongside rare post-punk and industrial sounds on Trevor Jackson’s Metal Dance series and the Fac. Dance Factory Records compilations\, to name but a few. We also started inviting original legends to record new studio albums including Mulatu Astatke\, Lloyd Miller\, Orlando Julius\,Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids\, Ebo Taylor and Pat Thomas plus the late\, great drummer Tony Allen and Jimi Tenor. \nSince 2014 we have had an ongoing relationship with the estate of Sun Ra and the Arkestra\, curating definitive box set editions of Ra’s recordings in Egypt in 1971\, the Singles and the Lanquidity album from 1978. In 2020 we released Swirling\, the first new Arkestra album in over 15 years. \nMost recently we have been working closely with the back catalogues of Patrice Rushen\, Miriam Makeba\, Black Fire Records and Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids; and we continue to support younger talent with recent critically acclaimed artist albums from Nubiyan Twist\, Electric Jalaba\, Kondi Band and The Souljazz Orchestra.

It is a partially covered outdoor/daylit space. \nDance together on a dance floor filled with bubbles\, balloons\, and topped by the parachute dance in this amazing outdoor venue! \nGet super crafty on the Wheadon’s Wacky Crafting tables and enjoy the baby chill out cabin. \nFacepainting by Doxa faces – £11/£8 – adult/child. There is no kids music\, nor games\, nor DJ shout outs. The effect is to give families unity on the dancefloor – dancing together. \nDJ lineups may be subject to unavoidable change. \nNo dogs at this event and the venue will be no smoking even in the garden. Smokers can go out front of the venue. \nFAQs \nAre there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? \nAll ages welcome but acitivities are designed with 0-8 years olds in mind. Music is played at safe levels for everyone. \nWhat are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event? \nThere is plenty of public transport options and some parking in nerby residential areas. \nHow can I contact the organiser with any questions? \ninfo@bigfishlittlefishevents.com \nWhat’s the refund policy? \nThere is a no refund policy but if you are unable to attend you may sell your tickets to someone else. \nHow loud will it be? \nBFLF sets and monitors the volume using World Health Organisation guidelines – so that is it at a safe level for everyone\, even the youngest babies\, over the 2 hour duration of the event. Though quieter than at adult events\, it is still loud enough to feel like you are at a club. Most parents do not use ear defenders on their children but if yours are particularly sensitive to noise or if you want them to nap then you might want to consider it.
