Though quieter than at adult events\, it is still loud enough to feel like you are at a club. Most parents do not use ear defenders on their children but if yours are particularly sensitive to noise or if you want them to nap then you might want to consider it.

SUMMARY:Deptford Dub Club
DESCRIPTION:This evening session is a celebration of the stunning developments in Roots Reggae 50 years ago; from Lee Perry and King Tubby’s dubs to deep roots vocalists and instrumentalists. Running tings will be the 4 horsemen\, all of whom are aficionados of this style and period.  \nSoft Wax has been selecting Roots Reggae since the mid 70s. He remembers the release of “Super Ape” and “War Ina Babylon” as life changing. Since then he has plied his craft sporadically across London town\, around the country and across the Herring Pond. He will be familiar to regulars at Deptford Dub Club. One of our closest amigos\, his sets are always wicked. For this session he’ll be focusing on Lee Scratch Perry’s output from the mighty Black Ark studio in general\, as well as the gargantuan Super Ape in particular. \nDrop da Biscuit is another mainstay of the D.D.C. and is a familiar\, much respected presence on the London Revive scene. He rarely leaves his yard without the tunes\, that are our focuses tonight\, in his boxes. He also creates the popular and influential Drop da Biscuit podcasts.. We’re thrilled to announce young lioness Dirt Bike Dub as an addition to the bill. She’s equally wedded to this era’s music and vibes\, the vibrant Edie is another hardcore Lee Scratch Perry fan and will be digging deep tonight. \nAs ever\, the tunes will be supplemented by live action\, on the mic\, from our residents. The mighty Singjay Doc Murdoc is absolutely guaranteed to nice up any dance; his style and fashion epitomizes the mid-70s style of toasting. The D.D.C. Horns\, led by Tombone of The Dub Pistols. It is expected that we will have special guest singers and players live and direct\, too. Earlier in the evening we’ll be playin’ our usual eclectic mix of music of Jamaican origin including Rocksteady and Ska. \nThere’ll also be live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk\, throughout the session. We’re looking forward to another blinding evening inside\, with the music piped out to the glorious garden too. Come on down to our celebration of the 50th anniversary of “Super Ape”. Put on your dancing shoes and come on down. \n£3 in adv. £5 otd. \nThe source waxings for this edition of “it was 50 years ago today” are Super Ape and War Ina Babylon.

SUMMARY:Viva Cuba - Community Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:We are coming together as a community to raise money for the purchase of essential goods which will be hand delivered to the people of Cuba. \nAll proceeds raised will go to purchasing medical supplies that will travel with a delegation from Britain to Cuba between 26th April – 10th May 2026 as part of the 19th International May Day Volunteer Work and Solidarity with Cuba Brigade. \nAs U.S. policies continue to suffocate the island’s access to fuel\, medicine\, and essential goods\, we believe this is the moment to act. We are organizing a people-powered mission to break the blockade and deliver aid as well as a powerful message: The people of Cuba are not alone. \nIF YOU’RE UNABLE TO MAKE IT ON THE 16th OF APRIL\, PLEASE CONSIDER LEAVING A DONATION USING THE TICKET LINK

SUMMARY:The Orb’s Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld Live in London
DESCRIPTION:Altered States present \nThe Orb’s Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld – Live in London \nJoin us at our beautiful boutique home venue\, The Fox in Lewisham\, as we celebrate the 35th anniversary of this seminal album. \nWe’ll be welcoming a stellar lineup of supporting artists across both the indoor and outdoor spaces. For now\, we’re excited to reveal that System 7 will be joining us – with more special guests to be announced soon. \nThe Orb are on stage at 22:00\, but the event will also carry on into the early hours. \nGrab your ticket while you can! \nMusic starts at 5pm\, but come early !! \n– \nThe Orb’s Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld wasn’t just an album\, it was a dimensional rift\, a gentle cosmic shockwave that rewired what electronic music could be. \nIn 1991\, when rave culture was accelerating toward harder\, faster sounds\, The Orb – Alex Paterson with key collaborators like Jimmy Cauty (KLF)\, Kris Weston\, Youth\, and the unmistakable presence of vocalists and sample-spirits such as Andy Falconer and the mighty Steve Hillage\, chose a different path. Instead of going up in energy\, they went out\, drifting deep into a panoramic\, slow-motion universe of ambient textures\, dub weight\, and starlit imagination. \nThis album expanded the idea of a “dance record” into something borderless and cinematic. It blended environmental soundscapes\, spoken-word fragments\, psychedelic guitar lines\, and oceanic bass into tracks that didn’t just play—they unfolded. It felt like a broadcast from a parallel dimension\, where clubs were observatories and the dancefloor was a launchpad pointed toward inner and outer space. \nIt changed the music industry by proving that electronic music could be both experimental and popular\, that audiences were hungry for long-form journeys rather than just singles or DJ tools. It elevated sampling into an artform\, challenged genre boundaries\, and helped carve out a new\, enduring landscape: ambient house. That entire wave\, including The KLF’s Chillout works\, Future Sound of London\, The Irresistible Force\, even the modern downtempo and chill-electronic scenes\, can trace a constellation line back to Ultraworld. \nThe album showed that electronic music could be meditative\, emotional\, humorous\, deeply weird\, and profoundly beautiful. It invited listeners not to dance\, but to drift. Not to escape the world\, but to imagine another one entirely. \nMore than thirty years later\, Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld still feels like a map to someplace unexplored\, a reminder that boundaries are invitations\, genres are suggestions\, and music can be as vast as the cosmos if you let it breathe.

SUMMARY:Deptford Dub Club
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased and proud to welcome Duke Neville back to the D.D.C.. The legendary Duke is known as “The Rocksteady Teacher”. The mighty Neville started out selecting on the General Soundsystem in the 70s. He selects to entertain and is also an entertaining raconteur on the mic.. Duke Neville remains a very well respected figure on the London Reggae Revive circuit and has wowed big events\, such as the London Ska Festival. Neville’s record auctions at Peckings Shop are the stuff of legend and speak to the depth of his personal collection of rare tunes. He also ran his own vinyl imprint “Neville Sounds”.  \nThroughout proceedings our resident Sing-jay\, the mighty Doc Murdoc will be on hand to nice-up the dance. The inimitable Doctor will need no introduction to many\, as he is a pillar of the London Reggae scene. He\, and the club’s resident selector\, Soft Wax\, recently supported Black Uhuru and together they’ve grace many of the capital’s stages and far beyond. For this night they will be joined by the D.D.C.s recently amended live horn section including Club favourite Michael. We may well see some special guests too. \nThe evening will also include a selection from Duppy Sista Sound. We’re delighted to welcome the vibrant Jaz back to select for us\, she is a stalwart of the Club; more broadly\, she’s a well-established figure on the London Reggae scene.  \nWe’re looking forward to another blinding evening of live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk. An enhanced sound system is a feature of this popular night\, held in a convivial boozer. We expect this session to be one of our most memorable. The palatial\, discrete garden will have the evening sets piped out to it. It has developed into a firm favourite chill out zone for Club regulars. Put on your dancing shoes. \n  \n£3 in adv. £5 o.t.d.

SUMMARY:Deptford Dub Club
DESCRIPTION:This evening session is a celebration of the stunning developments Roots Reggae 50 years ago; from King Tubby’s dubs to deep roots vocalists and instrumentalists like Hugh Mundell and Augustus Pablo. Running tings will be the 4 horsemen\, all of whom are aficionados of this style and period.  \nRas Danny Dread\, ( also known as Ras Danny Mosiah\,) will be putting the needle to the groove on the wheels of steel\, to close the show. The mighty Danny will need no introduction to regulars at The Deptford Dub Club\, as he is a stalwart. He’s more widely known through his work with the monumental Jah Shaka Soundsystem\, over many decades. One of our closest amigos\, his sets are always wicked. \nDrop da Biscuit is another mainstay of the D.D.C. and is a familiar\, much respected presence on the London Revive scene. He rarely leaves his yard without the tunes\, that are our focus tonight\, in his boxes. He also creates the popular and influential Drop da Biscuit podcasts. Soft Wax is the resident selector at the Dub Club. He remembers the release of “King Tubby Meets the Rockers Uptown” and “East of the River Nile” as life changing. \nWe’re thrilled that this night will co-incide with the release of Prince Fatty’s masterful re-lick of “ Air\, Earth\, Fire and Water” by Paul Whiteman and produced by Augustus Palbo. So we couldn’t resist the temptation to invite The Prince to launch his new record at our show. Mike is equally wedded to this era’s music and vibes. \nAs ever\, the tunes will be supplemented by live action on the mic from our residents. Come on down to our celebration of the 50th anniversary of “King Tubbys Meets the Rockers Uptown”. Put on your dancing shoes and come on down \n£3 in adv.  £5 otd. \nThe source waxing for this edition of “it was 50 years ago today” are Pablo and Tubby’s “King Tubbys Meets the Rockers Uptown”. Later this year we’ll be doing another session focusing on 50 years of The Upsetters’ “Superape”.
