SUMMARY:Cutashine St Patrick's Day Ceili
DESCRIPTION:Cut A Shine ventures to South London – AGAIN!!!!\nFriends! It was so much fun last time\, we just have to do it again! What a lovely bunch of dancers and friends. See you for a mid week dance on actual St Patrick’s Day!.. we’re be focussing on Irish Ceili Dances and having a wee stout. The pub is perfect for a dance – they take out some furniture and we rip it up on the massive dance floor. Can’t wait! \n \n~~~ \nAbout The Dancing\nAlthough called many things; Ceilidh\, Country Dance\, Barn Dance\, Ceili Dance\, Square Dance\, Set Dancing – one thing is certain\, it’s all “traditional” and how people would entertain themselves before TV and raves. We have a live band on stage to provide the music\, and a “Dance Caller”\, who is expert at teaching you all the simple and fun moves. First we learn the dance by walking through it with the caller\, then the band strike up\, and we dance to the music. You don’t need any experience\, just willingness to have a go and have fun. \nInclusivity and Diversity\nOur dances are All Inclusive\, regardless of age\, gender\, ability\, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Although based largely on traditional European and American dance forms\, we welcome all cultures and peoples to enjoy these dances and culture. We have tailored our dances to be non-heteronormative and involve everyone. We welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community. \nIt’s a Dance!\nA gentle reminder\, please wear appropriate footwear\, as this is a vigorous dance session! No heels! It’s also an “old fashioned” dance\, where you have a dancing partner (sometimes 2!) and have to hold hands sometimes. There is physical contact.

SUMMARY:The Vanguards + DJ Garth Cartwright - Bank Holiday Blues
DESCRIPTION:Free entry for those arriving before 7pm. \nThe Vanguards are a five-piece traditional bluegrass band based in London. Since 2015\, their high lonesome three-part harmonies and instrumental prowess have been bringing audiences a taste of the hard-driving early years of this acoustic offspring of country music. As well as performing masterful interpretations of bluegrass classics\, they write and perform wholly original music which evokes the sound and feel of bluegrass music’s pioneers. They released South of the River\, their debut full-length recording featuring thirteen all-original compositions\, in 2022. \n

SUMMARY:Madalitso Band + Michael Sebastian - Open Air Show
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the joyous sound of the Malawian duo as they blend homemade instruments with irresistible vocal harmonies at this outdoor show. \nThe Madalitso Band are a two man musical army from Malawi. Described as ‘Uplifting and Vibrant’ by the BBC\, they get crowds beaming with wonder and moving with joy every time. Their first album was produced by Bongo Joe records and the band has already performed at Glastonbury\, Womex\, Womad\, Roskilde\, Sauti Za Busara\, Shambala\, Boomtown…to name just a few. \nThe band plays the babatone – a popular home-made instrument in Malawi – and the four-string guitar\, creating the traditional Malawian ‘banjo’ sound. When not playing or touring\, babatone player Yobu Malinga works as a gardener and guitarist Yosefe Kalekeni works as a security guard\, however around Malawi they are increasingly revered as musical prophets. \n \nMichael Sebastian \nSouth African Michael Sebastian creates live dance music\, and is on a mission to liberate his audience. \nHe combines electronic\, world and jazz music to create an engaging and uplifting experience. Four Tet meets Fela Kuti with a dance crew. \n“Celebrating the collective euphoria of the rave\, “Move” encourages listeners to abandon their worries and live in the moment\, showcasing Sebastian’s talent for creating live dance music.” – Earmilk \nIn 2024 Sebastian released ‘Move’ a record celebrating and encouraging dance. He then took his crew of dancers & musicians on tour to festivals\, playing peak slots at Green Man\, Kendal Calling\, Secret Garden Party\, Wilderness & a headline on the main stage at Medicine festival. This was followed by an autumn headline tour to Berlin\, Brighton\, Bristol & London. \nSebastian has a strong impact in London with recent headline shows at EartH Hackney & Colour Factory\, support slots for James Blake\, Four Tet & Jamie XX at Alexandra Palace\, as well as being named a top 5 global Sofar artist. \nThe live show activates the audience uniquely\, an immersive high-energy hybrid live set\, that engages with musicianship\, movement\, and authentic expression. It unifies and motivates the crowd\, leaving them in a state of collective ecstasy.
