DESCRIPTION:African Head Charge is a pioneering dub and experimental percussion project founded in\n1981 by percussionist and sonic visionary Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah. \nFormed in the UK but\nrooted in deep Jamaican and West African rhythmic traditions\, the group became a\ncornerstone of the post-punk dub movement through its long-standing collaboration with\nproducer Adrian Sherwood of On-U Sound. \nBlending Nyabinghi drumming\, reggae basslines\, industrial textures and avant-garde\nstudio experimentation\, African Head Charge developed a distinctive\, immersive sound\nthat bridges ritual percussion and radical studio alchemy. Their early albums\, including My\nLife in a Hole in the Ground and Environmental Studies\, helped define the outer edges of\ndub in the 1980s\, influencing generations of producers and experimental musicians. \nAcross four decades\, African Head Charge has remained an evolving collective centred\naround Bonjo’s hypnotic percussion\, continuing to tour internationally and release critically\nacclaimed recordings that fuse ancestral rhythm with forward-thinking sonic exploration.

They will be bringing the vibes all night with very special guests joining the party. \nThe Jamaican music genius DNA that spawned some of the most influential musicians of all time must be credited when considering the meteoric rise of one of the world’s greatest Sound Systems. Coming to prominence in the early 80s with the “fast chat” style\, Saxon won the UK Cup Clash in 1992 and in 1994 were the first UK Sound System to win the World Clash. Saxon launched many careers including Maxi Priest\, Papa Levi\, Tippa Irie\, and Smiley Culture and massively influenced a new generation of artists such as Massive Attack and Soul II Soul. Saxon continues to play internationally\, including an annual outing at London’s Notting Hill Carnival.
