DESCRIPTION:The mastermind behind the Havana Meets Kingston project Mista Savona brings the full power of bass culture to Lewisham\, supported by Tropical Tea Party’s DJ Hiphoppapotamus and Feline. \nHavana Meets Kingston’s sound system show sprang from a trip to Cuba in 2014 for a musical meeting of the two islands. Mista Savona invited his favourite musical collaborators from Jamaica to fly with him into Cuba in 2015\, and in 2017 the first ‘Havana Meets Kingston’ album was released to widespread critical acclaim. The project features giants of the two musical scenes – Sly & Robbie\, members of Buena Vista Social Club\, Los Van Van\, Irakere\, Ernest Ranglin & many more greats. \nThis show features Savona himself behind the decks\, accompanied by live instrumentation which promises to channel the creative flair of the original album. \nHiphoppapotamus is a DJ\, producer and sonic architect of joy — a constant source of sunshine\, whatever the weather. His productions blend rootsy Afro\, Latin and Caribbean rhythms with Breaks\, House\, Drum & Bass/Jungle and Hip-Hop\, he’s crafted a signature sound that’s instantly uplifting and irresistibly danceable. The result: feel-good\, globally infused party music designed to move bodies and lift spirits in equal measure. \nFeline incorporates a range of styles inspired by reggae\, hip hop and bass heavy music to accompany his own original tracks; well versed in capturing any kind of crowd with positive flows and impeccable sounds.

SUMMARY:Strut Records - Free Garden Takeover
DESCRIPTION:Since its founding in 1999\, Strut has become one of the leading labels for reissues\, compilations and new studio albums in the field of African\, Caribbean\, Latin\, jazz\, soul and disco. Expect a deep dive through their catalogue plus fresh finds from the Strut crew. \nAbout Strut: \nDuring our early days\, we released the first Nigeria 70 and Disco Not Disco compilations\, as well as documenting some important milestones in dance music history including DJ sets from Grandmaster Flash and Bristol’s Wild Bunch. \nRe-launched in 2007\, in conjunction with Berlin’s !K7 Music\, we continued our journey with four compilations selected by London DJ collective Horse Meat Disco alongside rare post-punk and industrial sounds on Trevor Jackson’s Metal Dance series and the Fac. Dance Factory Records compilations\, to name but a few. We also started inviting original legends to record new studio albums including Mulatu Astatke\, Lloyd Miller\, Orlando Julius\,Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids\, Ebo Taylor and Pat Thomas plus the late\, great drummer Tony Allen and Jimi Tenor. \nSince 2014 we have had an ongoing relationship with the estate of Sun Ra and the Arkestra\, curating definitive box set editions of Ra’s recordings in Egypt in 1971\, the Singles and the Lanquidity album from 1978. In 2020 we released Swirling\, the first new Arkestra album in over 15 years. \nMost recently we have been working closely with the back catalogues of Patrice Rushen\, Miriam Makeba\, Black Fire Records and Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids; and we continue to support younger talent with recent critically acclaimed artist albums from Nubiyan Twist\, Electric Jalaba\, Kondi Band and The Souljazz Orchestra.
