20jun2:00 pmDeptford Dub Club: d'Oxman Special

Event Details

We are thrilled to be hosting d’Oxman Special, an outdoor, Alldayer, in Soundsystem style. Oxman is probably best known for his work with the Dub Vendor Allstars and the Soul Jazz Soundsystem. However Eddie’s been at the cutting edge of Reggae since long time, he has his own weekly show on Soho Radio, has produced and sold records with the best of them and has performed with luminaries like the late, great U Roy.
Oxman has a massive collection to select from, does it with aplomb and is also a great toaster. Eddie always plays up a storm. He also brought the house down at our finale at the old place; trust, that was a night. D’Oxman’s a great friend of the Deptford Dub Club, having stepped into the breach many times, when we’ve been in need of a hand.
In addition to our guest star, all of the usual D.D.C. massive will be along for this one. Resident Soft Wax will be kicking us off with an extended warm up selection. He’ll be joined by the great Doc Murdoch, our resident Singjay live and direct. They’ll be joined by our resident horn section of Tim Topcat ( saxophone ) and Wild Will ( trumpet .)
Club stalwart Danny Spartacus, from the legendary Spartacus Sound, will also be personing the decks in fine style. There’ll be more live vocals on the mic., too t.b.c.. Expect more, fresh, Dubplate action from the crew as well.
In traditional style, we will be playing the best in foundation Jamaican roots music: from Ska, through Rocksteady and classic, vintage Reggae, to the present. All the selectors will be digging extra deep into their musical dub-baskets for this event. We eagerly expect this one will be one of our most memorable sessions.
It’s a celebration for several reasons, not least because it’s Windrush Day a couple of days later. It’ll be outdoors, FREE and tables will be bookable in advance via our Bookings page. You’re strongly advised to take up this option as all our recent shows have been booked out, cos they’re hot, hot, hot.
