Born in Barbados in 1953, Dennis Bovell has earned himself the reputation of being Britain’s reggae maestro, from pioneering early developments in the genre over 40 years ago to producing classic hits. He is renowned as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (playing guitar, bass and keyboards), sound engineer, composer, band leader and producer and continues to lead the UK scene with innovative and adventurous music.
In recent years Dennis has been working in the studio with artists such as Hollie Cook and Prince Fatty, he co-wrote the track ‘Looking for Real Love’ on her latest album ‘Twice’,He also worked with Boy George, featuring on vocals and bass on his latest solo album aswell as with Alpha Blondy and Spahni’s Dub Dancers, where he has worked on production, engineering ,vocals and instruments, he wrote songs and produced young London Reggae band, General Roots, mixed Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra (featuring Shakira and Rihanna), and Dub mixes for Arcade Fire, Tamikrest, Samba Toure, The Stone Foundation, Sade and Hobbyist and many others. He is also writing songs for artists such as Joss Stone and Hot Chocolate. Dennis is a versatile and open minded music man who refuses to adhere to any specific genre although reggae and dub are closest to his heart.
To date, Dennis Bovell continues to record, produce and play live all over the world.
