This month the Dub Club’s due date coincides with Christmas Eve. Your regular hosts at the esteemed D.D.C., Soft Wax and Doc Murdoch are using this opportunity to throw a reggaematic, free party to ease you into the festive season. The dynamic duo of in demand DJ/MC Doc and selector Mr. Wax will be playing Reggae, Rocksteady and Ska in full effect, with a festive twist, in Soundsystem style. They’ll be ably supported by a crew of Club stalwarts.
Doc and Waxy’s kool pre-Yule Party comes as a thank you to all who have generously supported the storied Deptford Dub Club, month in and month out, for over 12 years of fun and frolics. A warm-up selection will come from bastion of the Club Selector Becca, who recently wrote a memorable article for the Guardian about her passion for Reggae and extensively name checking the D.D.C. We’re looking forward to her guest selection. We also expect input the regular horn section from Tombone and Natty.
The main selector for this one away session is Soft Wax who has been a Zelig-like figure in the sphere of roots, rock, rebel music for decades. He has been the resident selector of the Deptford Dub Club since 2012. He has also played out throughout the Capital, across the nation and over the Herring Pond in NYC.
The mighty Doc Murdoch will be joining us on the mic over the whole evening, peppering up the rhythms with his distinctive vocal stylings. He is the man of the moment on the microphone. However he’s a wicked selector too and he’ll have a number of slots during the evening. There will also be very special guests t.b.c. and hopefully the great Prince Fatty on the mix!
