We’re really chuffed that this month is the Sixth Anniversary of the start of our monthly residency at The Fox and Firkin. So it’s double plus good that headliner is the great Wassie One who was our lead artist on that opening night. Wassie is a long-time stalwart of the London Roots Reggae scene and always plays up a storm. Whether in a full, traditional Soundsystem contexts, or in club environments, he can be relied upon to produce the goods. The mighty Wassie spins a rich and wide spectrum of music of Jamaican origin, from Ska and Rocksteady “Gram Favourites”, to the hardest Roots Reggae. He’s also consistently, highly, entertaining chatting on the mic., whilst simultaneously spinning da riddims. A consummately skilled, reggaematic entertainer you can check him on previous show at the Dub Club:
Expect music of Jamaican origin of the highest order played in Soundsystem style throughout this session. To start the evening we will be welcoming the young lioness Duppy Sista Sound to the wheels of steel. Despite her youth, the Duppy Sista is a stalwart of The Dub Club and was there on the opening night, 12 years ago; aswell as our first night at The Fox, 6 years ago. She always plays up a storm.
She’ll be followed by more of the semi live action, that The Club is famous for. Resident selector Soft Wax will be spinnin’ the rhythms. On the mic there will be toasting and singjay action, live and direct, from the mighty Doc Murdoch. There will also be live instrumentation from our fresh, Horn Section, led by Tombone and featuring Natty. There’ll be extra special guest vocalists too.
There’ll also be live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk, throughout. We’re looking forward to another blinding evening inside, with the music piped out to the glorious garden too. Come on down in your dancing shoes and dance away those winter blues.
