Kwake Bass is regarded as one of the most established drummers in London. He’s played in many contexts, ranging from musical director to one-man-band, for acts as varied as DOOM (formally MF Doom), Mica Levi,Jonzi D (various works), Jehst, Joey Badass, Kate Tempest,Shabaka Hutchings and Karl R.Able. He’d started playing drums at just 5 years old, but by his teens had also moved into music production. This remained the focus for several years before returning to the drums with a new approach, inspired by his broader study of recorded music. Having dedicated much of his time to performing the music of his associates, this mixtape marks the realisation of his commitment to release his own recordings, and is the first instalment in a series of compilations of his solo work past and present.
