Event Details

Motherhood is a magical minefield. So we are welcoming all to a Mothers’ Day event celebrating motherhood in all its forms with a spectacular selection of live music, poetry and DJs.

There’s also open mic for anyone who wants to share their own vocal stylings on the subject, and family-friendly fun in the form of Young Poets and Young Artists competitions.

MINX is a vibrant singer, songwriter, rapper and actress. She proves the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree being the daughter of ‘Line of Duty’ star Adrian Dunbar. Minx made waves in the US and UK Hiphop scenes, now with a Masters Degree in Commercial Songwriting she graces us with her unique brand of music ‘escaping modern watered down pop with vengeance’. Minx is the mother of a two month old baby girl!
HAZEL MEHMET is a nationally renowned performance poet and activist, and the driving force behind hit spoken word event Shxts & Scribbles. She was recently featured on BAFTA winning Sky Arts show Life and Rhymes – and is a mother of two.
STACEY COHEN is an inimitable experimental singer songwriter of Folktronica who will be playing us an intimate stripped back acoustic set. She is the mother of a strapping 19 year old young man!
DON’T PANIC WENNA is a prolific London based spoken word artist, event organiser and published poet specialising in salacious self depreciation and saying the seldom said. Wenna is the mother of a beautiful 3 month old!
SPACEGIRL is a satirical political spoken word artist who says that Tea, cake, wine and comedy in that order, have seen her span several decades taking to the stage whilst bringing up her 4 boys!
DJ LA MINX: Spinning Reggae, Soul, Funk, Disco, House and club classics! Dj La Minx is the mother of a 14 year old young lady!

Get down early to enter your budding artists in the Mum’s The Word poetry and art competition. What does your mum mean to you? Write a poem or create a piece of art that represents how you feel about your mum or primary caregiver. Enter by 3, winners announced at 5! Exciting prizes to be won!
