This special edition of On the Rocks is charged with girl power and punk energy. Time to shake some things up at the Fox and Firkin. Let’s meet the bands:
Chroma:
CHROMA is an alt-rock band from Pontypridd, South Wales. The three-piece are hotly tipped by Under The Radar Mag and PRS M Magazine as ones to watch.
In addition they’ve received enormous radio support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Kerrang! Radio, Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru with ongoing support from BBC Introducing.
They’ve played sold-out shows all over the UK with the likes of IDLES, The Mysterines, Peace and Tigercub, with a huge show supporting the Foo Fighters ahead of them in June 2024.
Queen Cult:
Queen Cult are an alt rock band based in Macclesfield, UK formed by songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist Maisie Johnson with Brodie Carson on drums and Piers Jarvis on bass.
Unapologetically queer, Queen Cult released their fierce and politically charged debut EP ‘Woman That I Know’ in January ’22 preceded by the singles ‘Show & Tell’, ‘A Song About Consent’ and ‘Calm’.
They were also shortlisted as one of four finalists in the Manchester City Women’s Football Battle of the Bands competition which saw Queen Cult performing at their stadium. Queen Cult started 2024 with a sold-out show at Sapphic Sounds in London in February. In March they headed out as main support for Fort Hope, playing in eight cities across the UK.
Twat Union:
The feminist chaos pop punk 7 piece from South London are known for their wild, immersive gigs with their trademark provocative humour. Twat Union’s all-girl lineup don’t shy away from topics like period sex, thigh chafe, urinary tracts and people always assuming they are the singer of the band because they are women.
