DESCRIPTION:After a hiatus of over a decade\, Abakush is back. Back with a new look\, new brand\, new tunes\, renewed energy\, but still carrying the same powerful message. \nThis predominantly female 9-piece group from Brixton was formed in 1981 by a group of like- minded individuals. They originally performed as Abacus\, which evolved into Abakush and now \nKush Abakush – ‘Abba’ of Aramaic origin – the common word for father in modern Hebrew and ‘Kush’ representing the Motherland. Whilst Abakush is widely considered a reggae group\, they incorporate elements of Jazz\, Soca and Gospel into their sound.
