SUMMARY:ShadeINDIGO hosted by Cherise
DESCRIPTION:ShadeINDIGO (founded by Jazz/Soul vocalist CHERISE) and the Fox and Firkin come together for a collaborative series of live showcases\, with a shared belief in spotlighting excellent musicians who create with purpose and passion. Rooted in community and craft\, these events celebrate emerging talent in a great night of live music!   On our first installation we have 2 exciting artists: \nBen Cipolla is a singer and guitarist whose music blends soulful vocals\, jazzy textures\, and acoustic pop warmth. Like Nick Drake\, he brings melodic subtlety and quiet intensity to his playing\, while echoing John Martyn’s adventurous textures and Jack Johnson’s easygoing charm. His versatile repertoire spans jazz standards\, bossa nova classics\, and reimagined pop favourites\, keeping a natural fusion of genres at the heart of his sound. Based in Bristol and inspired by his Sicilian heritage\, Cipolla has released two acclaimed albums\, including Casa Mia\, and is preparing his third for release in 2026. \nPianist and composer Emily Tran is one of the most exciting young jazz artists emerging from the London scene. Since joining the ever-growing community of Tomorrow’s Warriors\, she has developed a versatile musical voice and has played in a range of ensembles in venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall\, Ronnie Scott’s and the Barbican. She has arranged and played for the Nu Civilisation Orchestra and wrote the original score for BBC Radio 3’s ‘Gatsby in Harlem’\, which won 3 awards at the British Audio Awards\, one being the prestigious Audio of The Year. Alongside playing with other artists\, her solo project\, The Emily Tran Quintet\, is a sonic collage of influences \, shedding light on her varied musical upbringing – from playing piano and organ in the Vietnamese Church as a child\, to more recently studying classical composition at the Royal Academy of Music. Her versatility has made her an in-demand player and composer and has seen her play at Love Supreme Festival\, Brick Lane Jazz Festival and We Out Here. The music is spirited\, with a quiet intensity that makes the band one to watch out for!

SUMMARY:Deptford Dub Club
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased and proud to welcome Duke Neville back to the D.D.C.. The legendary Duke is known as “The Rocksteady Teacher”. The mighty Neville started out selecting on the General Soundsystem in the 70s. He selects to entertain and is also an entertaining raconteur on the mic.. Duke Neville remains a very well respected figure on the London Reggae Revive circuit and has wowed big events\, such as the London Ska Festival. Neville’s record auctions at Peckings Shop are the stuff of legend and speak to the depth of his personal collection of rare tunes. He also ran his own vinyl imprint “Neville Sounds”.  \nThroughout proceedings our resident Sing-jay\, the mighty Doc Murdoc will be on hand to nice-up the dance. The inimitable Doctor will need no introduction to many\, as he is a pillar of the London Reggae scene. He\, and the club’s resident selector\, Soft Wax\, recently supported Black Uhuru and together they’ve grace many of the capital’s stages and far beyond. For this night they will be joined by the D.D.C.s recently amended live horn section including Club favourite Michael. We may well see some special guests too. \nThe evening will also include a selection from Duppy Sista Sound. We’re delighted to welcome the vibrant Jaz back to select for us\, she is a stalwart of the Club; more broadly\, she’s a well-established figure on the London Reggae scene.  \nWe’re looking forward to another blinding evening of live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk. An enhanced sound system is a feature of this popular night\, held in a convivial boozer. We expect this session to be one of our most memorable. The palatial\, discrete garden will have the evening sets piped out to it. It has developed into a firm favourite chill out zone for Club regulars. Put on your dancing shoes. \n  \n£3 in adv. £5 o.t.d.

SUMMARY:Omar
DESCRIPTION:The UK’s greatest soul singer\, Omar\, returns to the Fox & Firkin to celebrate 40 years as an active recording artist as well as his 9th and most recent studio album\, ‘Brighter the Days’.   Brighter the Days has been lauded to be Omar’s most self-assured\, well rounded\, eclectic\, and continues to highlight his trademark vocals & songwriting. His unique\, instantly identifiable voice always results in nothing but memorable music.  Often tagged ‘neo soul’ or even ‘acid jazz’ – the truth is Omar is his own one-man genre\, as this latest album attests.  With worldwide appeal spanning multiple generations Omar has worked with the likes of Stevie Wonder\, Lamont Dozier\, the late Angie Stone\, Leon Ware\, Robert Glasper and Erykah Badu just to name a few. \nWho better to DJ on the night then Femi Fem? \nFemi Fem\, began his journey in London’s underground music scene during the 1980s\, co-founding the legendary Family Funktion and Shake & Fingerpop warehouse parties. These pioneering events helped ignite the rare groove and acid jazz movements that reshaped UK club culture. As a DJ\, Femi has brought his soulful\, eclectic sound to events for Prince\, Janet Jackson\, Lauryn Hill\, Stella McCartney\, Jade Jagger\, Gucci\, with trips to Australia  Japan & Hong Kong. His flair for blending music and fashion has seen him create bespoke catwalk soundtracks for designers such as Ozwald Boateng\, Katharine Hamnett\, Julien Macdonald\, Bella Freud\, and Groove Odyssey. He also founded the iconic\, MOBO Award-winning club night Rotation at London’s Subterranea — a touchstone for the city’s soulful nightlife. \nTo put it simply\, this is certainly not a show you want to miss.

SUMMARY:Cutashine St Patrick's Day Ceili
DESCRIPTION:Cut A Shine ventures to South London – AGAIN!!!!\nFriends! It was so much fun last time\, we just have to do it again! What a lovely bunch of dancers and friends. See you for a mid week dance on actual St Patrick’s Day!.. we’re be focussing on Irish Ceili Dances and having a wee stout. The pub is perfect for a dance – they take out some furniture and we rip it up on the massive dance floor. Can’t wait! \n \n~~~ \nAbout The Dancing\nAlthough called many things; Ceilidh\, Country Dance\, Barn Dance\, Ceili Dance\, Square Dance\, Set Dancing – one thing is certain\, it’s all “traditional” and how people would entertain themselves before TV and raves. We have a live band on stage to provide the music\, and a “Dance Caller”\, who is expert at teaching you all the simple and fun moves. First we learn the dance by walking through it with the caller\, then the band strike up\, and we dance to the music. You don’t need any experience\, just willingness to have a go and have fun. \nInclusivity and Diversity\nOur dances are All Inclusive\, regardless of age\, gender\, ability\, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Although based largely on traditional European and American dance forms\, we welcome all cultures and peoples to enjoy these dances and culture. We have tailored our dances to be non-heteronormative and involve everyone. We welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community. \nIt’s a Dance!\nA gentle reminder\, please wear appropriate footwear\, as this is a vigorous dance session! No heels! It’s also an “old fashioned” dance\, where you have a dancing partner (sometimes 2!) and have to hold hands sometimes. There is physical contact.
