SUMMARY:Fulu Miziki
DESCRIPTION:Eco–Friendly–Afro–futuristic–Punk–Assemble returns to the Fox after last year’s incomparable performance. \nFulu Miziki roughly translates as “music from garbage” which is in a literal sense is an accurate\ndescription of the thrillingly chaotic collective of artists who comes straight from a future where humans have reconciled with mother earth and with themselves. This multidisciplinary collective is based in Congolese capital city Kinshasa. \nFor several years now\, it’s members have spent an amount of time conceptualising an orchestra made from objects found in the trash\, constantly changing instruments\, and always in search of new sounds. \nMaking their own instruments\, costumes\, and masks is essential to the approach of Fulu Miziki’s musical core ideology. Their unique sound supports a pan–African message of artistic liberation\, peace and a severe look at the ecological situation of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the whole world. For Fulu everything can be recovered and re–enchanted. \n TICKETS

SUMMARY:Deptford Dub Club
DESCRIPTION:Duke Neville Returns to the D.D.C. \nWe’re thrilled to welcome back Duke Neville to the D.D.C. for the second time this year. His Spring set was a standout\, and we’re expecting no less this time around. Known as “The Rocksteady Teacher\,” Duke’s journey began in the 70s on the General Soundsystem. A true selector and natural raconteur\, he remains a respected figure on the London Reggae Revive circuit\, having graced stages like the London Ska Festival. His legendary record auctions at Peckings Shop and his own vinyl imprint\, Neville Sounds\, speak to his deep roots and rare collection. \nJoining him is the vibrant Sweet C (formerly Steady C)\, another pillar of the London Reggae scene. His musical partnership with Duke dates back to the late 70s\, when they formed the London party sound General\, later rebranded as Alpha B. Together\, they became fixtures at town hall dances\, house parties\, and top clubs across London and the southeast. Expect scorching selections of Ska\, early Reggae\, and Rocksteady from this iconic duo. \nAlso on hand to “nice up the dance” is our resident Sing-jay\, Doc Murdoc. A mainstay of the London scene\, Doc has shared stages with legends and recently supported Black Uhuru alongside resident selector Soft Wax. They’ll be joined by the D.D.C.’s newly expanded live horn section—now a three-piece featuring crowd favourites Natty and Tombone. Special guests may drop in too. \nSound sorcery comes courtesy of the great Prince Fatty\, running live mixes on an enhanced system. As always\, the night takes place in a friendly local boozer\, with music piped into the palatial\, secluded garden—a firm favourite chill-out spot for regulars. \nPut on your dancing shoes!£5 on the door | £3 advance

SUMMARY:Akolá Tambó + DJ Cal Jader & Moralito
DESCRIPTION:AKOLÁ TAMBÓ\, with its trance-inducing bullerengue\, presents a blaze of traditional Afro-Colombian beats that will take you on a journey to reconnect to the root. A high dose of drums\, dance and mantra-like chants gives birth to this ancestral ritual in which everyone is invited to take part\, unify their voices and become one. \nCreated in London in 2020 under the leadership of Esteban Card\, Akolá Tambó’s objective is to reconstruct\, through practice\, the ancestral knowledge of bullerengue in order to become its ambassador in the UK. With its drums and its call and response chants\, which induce a trance-like state\, it aims to rescue this ancestral ritual from oblivion and share its healing power with the world. \nHaving performed at various venues and events\, Akolá Tambó has fast become a reference within London’s Latin Community and has been invited to perform at some of its most important stages such as CASA Latinx Multidisciplinary Festival\, Latinx Life Festival and Fusión de los Pueblos. \nCal Jader blends a distinctive mix of Latin\, Tropical and global sounds from delicious Salsa\, Cumbia and Merengue to exquisite Afro-Caribbean\, Brazilian grooves and dancehall. Over his two vinyl sets for My Analog Journal he has almost half a million plays and currently holds down a monthly show on Soho Radio. \nMoralito is a record collector and DJ from Colombia\, known for spinning groovy and psychedelic sounds from across the globe. With a strong focus on Latin music\, his sets range from salsa\, cumbia and champeta to funk\, disco and jazz.

This all day event\, will begin outdoors\, with a fully Family Friendly long afternoon\, in the fabulous\, extensive garden. Followed by Soundsystem style late evening session\, inside. We’re thrilled to announce that this event will have 2 co-headliners. This show coincides with the national focus on the Windrush generation and our thoughts will be with them. \nWe’re stoked that the legendary Jerry Dammers will be spinning for us during the early evening. The founder of The Specials and the 2 Tone Records label\, Jerry’s illustrious career\, has included writing many great tunes\, including “Ghost Town” and “Free Nelson Mandela”. Always progressing\, recent years have seen Jerry at the helm of the august Spacial A.K.A.. Mr Dammers promises a\, “personal Revival selection.” \nThis promises to be a real historical event as it also features the equally legendary Neville King on the wheels of steel. The renowned producer and soundsystem operator was born in St. James\, Jamaica. Neville’s soundsystem had long residencies in Brixton\, Tooting\, Peckham and Streatham during the 70s. In those days he was a mentor to David Rodigan\, Levi Roots and Blacker Dread. Neville King launched his own labels in London in 1976 and quickly struck gold. He issued exceptional roots material by Prince Lincoln and the Royal Rasses and Jacob Miller. Mr King was also one of the instigators of Lovers Rock\, releasing many of his own production in the genre. “Be Thankful” by One Blood has assumed classic status.  \nSoft Wax\, Drop da Biscuit and Vandorta will also be spinnin’. Early in the afternoon in the garden we’ll commence with a warm up selection from Mr.Wax. He’ll be followed by Vandorta. She’ll be familiar to anybody that frequents Sounds of the Universe and has performed here before at the D.D.C. and as part of the Soul Jazz Soundsystem. The vibrant Annabelle exudes positive vibes and can be relied upon to grace us with a scintillating Reggae Revive set\, presented with style. She’ll be followed by Drop da Biscuit and he’ll be followed by one of our headliners. Mikey D.D.B. is another mainstay of the D.D.C. and is a familiar\, much respected presence on the London Revive scene. \nFollowing him there will be more of the semi-live action for which the Club is known. Soft Wax will be spinnin’ the rhythms. On the mic there will be singjay action\, live and direct\, from the mighty Doc Murdoc. There will also be live instrumentation from our fresh\, new\, Horn Section\, featuring Tombone\, Natty and Michael and featuring special guests. There’ll be extra special guest vocalists too. We’re also looking forward to another blinding session from the great Prince Fatty on the desk\, throughout the event.  \nThis event will be our second celebrating the glorious Deep Roots Reggae of the mid-1970s. This time we will be focusing on a range of key vocalists including: Dennis Brown\, Johnny Clarke\, Horace Andy and Gregory Isaacs. This inevitably involves the work of prominent producers and engineers of this golden age including: Bunny Lee\, Niney\, Lee Perry and King Tubby.  We expect this whole day to be one of our most memorable. Come on down\, put on your dancing shoes and surrender to the rhythm. \n TICKETS

SUMMARY:Far Out Recordings Open Air Garden Takeover
DESCRIPTION:Far Out records are taking over our illustrious beer garden Saturday 21st June 🍻\nThey’ll have records & merch for sale as they spin great tunes out in the (hopefully) sunshine all afternoon 🌞 \nIt’s FREE! \nPS. The wonderful Sofrito Sound will be taking over the main room all night long thereafter ✨ \n\nAbout Far Out Recordings: \nFar Out Recordings was founded in 1994 by London DJ and record producer Joe Davis. His longstanding and insatiable passion for Brazilian music\, fuelled by his initial love of the jazz\, funk and soul ubiquitous on the Rare Groove scene in 1980s London\, took him to Brazil first as a teenager. It was there that his enthusiasm for record-collecting led him to some of his musical heroes and the eventual formation of musical bonds and close friendships. Joe’s early discoveries led to him becoming the UK’s foremost authority on Brazilian music\, much of it little-known here before his enthusiastic endorsements began to ring out across the music scene. This led to the inevitable\, and the keen young music fan and DJ with an entrepreneurial flair founded Far Out Recordings. \nThe label’s aim from the start has been to bring the sound of Brazil to the world – to showcase the history and culture of a land bursting with creativity and energy – from the classic to the cutting edge. There have been numerous releases from both new and established Brazilian artists including legends such as Azymuth\, Joyce\, Marcos Valle\, Arthur Verocai\, The Ipanemas\, Sabrina Malheiros\, Clara Moreno and Binario\, to name a few.

SUMMARY:Happy Garden + Orchard
DESCRIPTION:Happy Garden is a nature-inspired\, 6-piece nu-jazz band blending lush harmonies\, organic grooves\, and improvisational freedom. Drawing influence from the natural world\, their sound fuses elements of contemporary jazz\, ambient textures\, and soulful rhythms to create immersive sonic landscapes. With rich instrumentation and a spirit of exploration\, Happy Garden invites listeners into a meditative\, groove-driven experience that’s both grounding and uplifting. \nPLUS support from Orchard. Orchard are the newest eight-piece neo-soul group to emerge from the London jazz scene. Having met at Guildhall School of Music and Drama\, they have been shaped by their shared love of the jazz tradition\, and yet bring their most valuable contributions to the music through individual influences and unique musical backgrounds. Celebrating the interaction between individuality and collective experience is what Orchard’s music is all about – like rows of trees in the orchard\, each individual voice grows in conversation with the whole. \n
