This April Deptford Dub Club will be celebrating it’s 13th birthday with a daytime garden takeover alongside our infamous Rub a Dub Sunday promotions. \nWe are thrilled that\, on the 20th April\, Deptford Dub Club will host a celebration of it’s 13 Birthday. We’re also stoked that this extravaganza will feature 2 headliners. Mr Reggae Reggae Sauce himself\, Levi Roots and D.D.C. favourite d’Oxman. \nBefore his national break through on Dragons Den\, Levi Roots had a considerable reputation as a Soundman and recording artist. He has released 3 albums and 35 singles; including the highly sought after “Poor Man’s Story/Voice of the Poor” with Fred Locks and the Creation Steppers. That was produced by the UK Soundsystem great Lloyd Coxsone. Levi first joined the legendary Sir Coxsone Outernational Soundsystem when he was 16. In those days de yout gained a considerable reputation chatting pon de mic. He was also associated with the Neville King Sound. In the early years of this millenium he went to Jamaica to record at Tuff Gong Studio\, with a crack band\, including members of the Wailers. \nD’Oxman is probably best known for his work with the Dub Vendor Allstars and the Soul Jazz Soundsystem. However Eddie’s been at the cutting edge since long time\, he has his own show on Soho Radio\, has produced and sold records with the best of them and has performed with luminaries like U Roy. Oxman has a massive collection to select from\, does it with aplomb and is a great toaster. He’s a great friend of the D.D.C. and returns to us having recently triumphed at the storied Rivoli Ballroom. \nExpect music of Jamaican origin of the highest order played in Soundsystem style throughout this anniversary session. To start the afternoon we will be welcoming the young lioness Duppy Sista Sound to the wheels of steel. The vibrant Sista exudes positive vibes and can be relied upon to grace us with a scintillating set\, presented with style. The Duppy Sista will be joined\, for the first time\, by Tenshi Raya. She’ll be familiar to anybody that frequents the great Sounds of the Universe\, in Soho. \nThey’ll be succeeded on the decks by D.D.C. stalwart Natty Nick. The vibrant Nick exudes positive vibes and can be relied upon for a scintillating set presented with style. Expect Ska\, Rocksteady and Reggae revive. \nHe’ll be followed by more of the semi live action\, that The Club is famous for. Resident selector Soft Wax will be spinnin’ the rhythms\, on the wheels of steel. On the mic there will be toasting and singjay action\, live and direct\, from the mighty Doc Murdoc. There will also be live instrumentation from our fresh\, Horn Section\, led by Tombone ( Dub Pistols ) and  Natty ( RaSamurai ) and featuring Michael. There’ll be extra special guest vocalists too. \nThere’ll also be live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk\, throughout the session. We’re looking forward to another blinding afternoon outside\, in the glorious garden\, with food\, stalls and an exhibition about the D.D.C.. Come on down to our fully family friendly anniversary celebratory special. Put on your dancing shoes and dance away those winter blues. \nIn addition to this all-round event\, the man behind Deptford Dub Club\, Mr Soft Wax himself\, is putting together a colourful exhibition of ephemera charting the development of the Deptford Dub Club\, over the last 13 years. These artifacts go back to the inception of the D.D.C. at the V22 Festival\, at the Bermondsey Biscuit Factory in 2012 ( now largely demolished.) Through the years\, down by the waterfront\, in Deptford\, at The Duke – including the original fake leopard skin backdrop.
