Black Uhuru
Tuesday, 1st July @ 7:00 pm
£20.00 – £30.00
Reggae legends Black Uhuru, one of the most iconic and prolific groups in the genre, hit our stage for one night only this July.
Formed by Derrick “Duckie” Simpson in Kingston’s Waterhouse district in the early ’70s, the band gained international recognition with their 1977 debut “Love Crises”, recorded at Prince Jammy’s legendary studio.
With the powerhouse rhythm section of Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, they crafted a signature sound—heavy basslines, echoing guitar riffs, sharp keys, and those unmistakable “woh oh oh’s.” Expect classics like “I Love King Selassie,” “Shine Eye Gal,” “General Penitentiary,” and “What is Life.”
