Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir
Raising Money for Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Charity, join the 2015 Christmas Number One charting choir for a night of hearty carols.
The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir were first seen on Gareth Malone’s BBC2 show, ‘Sing While You Work’. Since then they have gone from strength-to-strength.
Riding an overwhelming wave of support from healthcare workers and the public they released the single: ‘A Bridge Over You’ and landed the much coveted Christmas Number 1 spot on the official UK chart in 2015. The campaign was a social media phenomenon with #LoveYourNHS being shared around the world.
The moment the No.1 news was confirmed and Justin Bieber presented their award .
The choir went on to release a full album in 2016 and to perform at countless NHS and community events along with some highlights including the 2020 Christmas Day Queen’s Speech at Windsor Castle, the Glastonbury Festival, the F.A Cup Final, the Royal Albert Hall for Christmas with the Stars, Stand Up to Cancer with Boy George, On Blackheath (with Travis and as guests of headliners Squeeze) and Greenwich Music Time with The Jacksons. They also appeared at the 2021 BRIT Awards with Rag n’ Bone Man and Pink on their version of ‘Anywhere Away from Here’ and at the Major League Baseball ‘London Series’ at the London Stadium.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the choir continued to sing together weekly, taking their rehearsals online. They produced several projects during this time, including an ITV News tribute to NHS staff, virtual videos in support of charity projects, and a version of ‘You’re Not Alone’ for Ministry of Sound Classical with Alexandra Burke and the London Concert Orchestra. They also appeared with McFly for Britain’s Got Talent’s salute to frontline NHS workers and in August 2023 featured in a Vogue Magazine ‘London Icons’ photo shoot, with Victoria Beckham among others.
They have most recently performed some festive favorites on BBC Radio2, in December 2025, as a special guest of Lorraine Kelly
