LAST LIVING CANNIBAL

Last Living Cannibal is the project of songwriter and producer Allister Kellaway. It began in late 2019 as a small side project with a few songs written on guitar and drum machine, eventually morphing into a full-time endeavour once lockdown came into effect in 2020. What resulted was the release “7 Years” in March 2021, an album about the struggle between optimism and melancholy and coming to terms with the subtle loss of innocence in early adulthood.

OSCAR ROCHE

Oscar Roche, 20, is a singer and songwriter from Kent. Inspired by artists of past such as Simon and Garfunkel, John Martyn and George Harrison, to present day the likes of Flyte, Nick Mulvey and Juno Dream, Oscar Roche’s music can borrow from any and all of the above at once. With wide reaching vocals and harmonies underpinning the majority of his work, expect warm songs with warmer harmony, provided by one or two other musicians that help to bring his songs to life in the live context.

ALIEN CHICKS

Alien Chicks are an alternative punk power trio based in Brixton. Their original songs are a surrealist storytelling of modern Britain, packing a punch with social commentary and emotive chord progressions, punctuated with powerful rhythms and eclectic time signatures. Their youthful charisma and humour make for a fiery and energetic live show that you won’t forget.

HEADBOY

Birthed during lockdown and now let loose, Headboy – a north London based band – made their debut at The Windmill in May as part of the Doc Martens Come Back Better initiative. The trio have continued making waves with a sound that’s shoegazer-come-grunge plus a dash of punky angst.

Admissions is a weekly event curated to support and uplift emerging, underground and even student musicians. With free entry for students and cheap deals it’s a great spot to network with various people as well as showcase any current projects you’re working on.

LINE UP:

JAZ BEESON

Sunflower Pop: Jaz Beeson makes music for golden-hour road trips and twirling through daisy-dappled fields. With dream-haze harmonies floating on top of punchy pop production, her music is made for coming-of-agers and cottagecore daydreamers. From Lincolnshire, Jaz finds herself most at peace among the marshlands and wide-open skies. Her feathery vocals and conversational lyrics draw comparison to Phoebe Bridgers and Olivia Rodrigo.

After joining stellar lineups at Beyond the Woods, Humber Street Sesh and Outfields over the last two years, Jaz refined her signature sunflower sound, sharing works in progress with friends in her corner of the internet. Since playing tunes at writers rounds across London, including ICMP’s Songwriter Circle with Orla Gartland in 2020, and Social’s Acoustic Sunday earlier this year, Jaz is making waves in another brilliant year. After her acclaimed BBC Introducing live session in June, Jaz nodded to her inspirations and hinted at what’s to come:

JACK HOWARD

Jack Howard Presents. Described as “mesmerising” (Demur Decks 2019) and “not the worst thing to happen” – Bertie Howard (2020)

BERT BRETT

Following the release of his debut in early 2020, he has earned early support from BBC Music Introducing London and local radio (Radio Jackie), as well as interviews for The Book of Man and his local South-London Guardian newspapers. He has earned performances for Ray-Ban, Bush Hall & Sound City festival for #SaveOurVenues, as well as a takeover for the FAC (Featured Artists Coalition).

Capturing the bittersweet strife of modern life, Bert offers an urban commentary of the world through a suburban South-London lens. “A sort of truth-seeking story-teller”, his sensitivity to the world is both observational and relatable and a hooky and direct ‘sprechgesang’ delivery blends with dynamic guitars for a mix of Indie Pop-Rock & Neo-soul. Full of ear worms, one liners & poetic double entendre, it’s resonant with the likes of Jamie T, Anthony Kiedis & Alex Turner.

Bert releases next single ‘Barcelona’ on August 13th – a summer tune about an escape to Spain’s vibrant party capital. He will be releasing music every 6 weeks in 2021, before working toward his debut album planned for 2022.

FENESTELLA

THE PARASOCIALS

It was whispered in the finest scents of the Deptford muck; The Parasocials. A unique union of neo jazz composer Tomer Krail, roguish folk singer George Calne Jones, charming indie softboi Felix Slander and miracle drummer Rob James, The Parasocials combine four great talents of the London music scene to bring you a sound rich with art rock and yet strangely palatable stadium anthems.
