New Regency Orchestra will be headlining the second show in the four-part summer series celebrating the best of London jazz from the artists shaping the scene.  Inspired by the musical melting pot of NYC in the 1950s but channeling the punch and power of a whole host of London’s best Latin and jazz musicians, New Regency Orchestra are one of London’s most electrifying acts. An 18-piece Afro-Cuban big band, they blow new life into some of the finest music from that golden era, when jazz luminaries like Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker were joining forces with Cuban greats like Machito and Chano Pozo.  From early 1950s René Hernandez and Tito Puente, through to the 1970s salsa of Rafael Labasta and Orlando Marin, produced and performed with fresh fire, their debut album has been getting plaudits and plays far and wide.  Also performing on the day will be Joe Bristow (SEED Ensemble, Balimaya Project, Black Midi, Olivia Dean and more), with more to be announced.

Supported by a grassroots music grant from Arts Council England, helping us continue to champion emerging artists and live music in the community.  All events support Lewisham Donation Hub, a local charity providing vital support to those facing acute hardship across South East London.  The largest pub garden in SE London will have street food, drinks, and a laid-back summer atmosphere. Families are welcome, with free entry for children, market stalls, and activities to keep little ones entertained.
Across the series:
June 7 – Curated by Women In Jazz
July 12 – New Regency Orchestra, Joe Bristow, more TBA
August 09 – Steam Down x Imaginary Millions
September 27 – Silhouette Project All Dayer
