Deptford Dub Club

The October edition of the Deptford Dub Club sees the return of a Dub Club favourite, the legendary UK reggae sound system operator and DJ, Gladdy Wax. Strap yourself in for a special night of classic Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae brought to you by the inimitable Mr Vinyl Fingers fresh from Carnival.
Gladdy is a national treasure and one of the all-time great soundmen. Born in Jamaica, Gladdy moved to the UK as a teenager in 1965. His storied career includes DJing for Birmingham’s Quaker City and opening for Bob Marley in 1973. He has famously operated his independent sound system at the Notting Hill Carnival for nearly four decades, and in the 1990s, he ran the iconic north London record store Wax Unlimited in Stoke Newington until it closed in 2006. Known for his massive vintage vinyl collection and trademark white gloves, he remains a cornerstone of British-Jamaican sound system culture.
Gladdy will be ably supported by our Deptford Dub Club Stalwart, Soft Wax, who will be spinning his usual blend of Dub Club classics, alongside prominent London-based writer, reggae selector, and vinyl collector UK Corner (Anton) and another Dub Club regular Natty Nick, playing a party mix of roots reggae, rocksteady and ska.
Dub Club mainstay MC, Singjay and selector, Doc Murdoc, will be nicing up the vibes on the mic to make it a very special evening.
October 18th 2026 – bring on the white gloves.
