Deptford Dub Club: Reggae Christmas ft. Jerry Dammers

D.D.C.: Reggae Christmas Feat. Jerry DammersÂ
We are thrilled that, on the 21st December, Deptford Dub Club will host an extended Christmas Special, featuring the legendary Jerry Dammers. The founder of The Specials and the 2 Tone Records label, Jerry’s illustrious career, has included writing many great tunes, including “Ghost Town” and “Free Nelson Mandela”. Always progressing, recent years have seen Jerry at the helm of the august Spacial A.K.A.. Mr Dammers promises a “personal Festive selection.”Â

Expect music of Jamaican origin, of the highest order, played in Soundsystem style, through a full and mighty rig, throughout this celebratory session. To start the afternoon we will be welcoming the young lionesses Duppy Sista Sound to the wheels of steel. Expect a carefully chosen selection from Sista Jaz, she tore the place down in March and always plays up a storm. She will be succeeded on the decks by another D.D.C. regular Natty Nick. The vibrant Nick exudes positive vibes and can be relied upon for a scintillating set, presented with style. Expect Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae revive.

He’ll be followed by more of the semi-live action, that The Club is famous for. Resident selector Soft Wax will be spinnin’ the rhythms, on the decks. Joining him there will be live instrumentation, on the mic, from our fresh Horn Section, led by Tombone of the Dub Pistols and featuring Michael. Throughout the session there will be singjay action, live and direct, from the mighty Doc Murdoc.

Ras Danny Dread, ( also known as Ras Danny Mosiah,) will be putting the needle to the groove on the wheels of steel, to close the show. The mighty Danny will need no introduction to regulars at The Deptford Dub Club, as he is another stalwart. He’s more widely known through his work with the monumental Jah Shaka Soundsystem, over many decades. One of our closest amigos, his sets are always wicked.
There’ll be extra special guest vocalists on the mic too. There will also be live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk, through the session. We’re looking forward to another blinding, extended, festive inside, with the music piped out to the glorious garden too. The afternoon will be fully family friendly. Come on down to our celebration of the joys of the festive season and put on your dancing shoes.Â
