ShadeINDIGO hosted by Cherise

ShadeINDIGO (founded by Jazz/Soul vocalist CHERISE) and the Fox and Firkin come together for a collaborative series of live showcases, with a shared belief in spotlighting excellent musicians who create with purpose and passion. Rooted in community and craft, these events celebrate emerging talent in a great night of live music! On our first installation we have 2 exciting artists:
Ben Cipolla is a singer and guitarist whose music blends soulful vocals, jazzy textures, and acoustic pop warmth. Like Nick Drake, he brings melodic subtlety and quiet intensity to his playing, while echoing John Martyn’s adventurous textures and Jack Johnson’s easygoing charm. His versatile repertoire spans jazz standards, bossa nova classics, and reimagined pop favourites, keeping a natural fusion of genres at the heart of his sound. Based in Bristol and inspired by his Sicilian heritage, Cipolla has released two acclaimed albums, including Casa Mia, and is preparing his third for release in 2026.
Pianist and composer Emily Tran is one of the most exciting young jazz artists emerging from the London scene. Since joining the ever-growing community of Tomorrow’s Warriors, she has developed a versatile musical voice and has played in a range of ensembles in venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ronnie Scott’s and the Barbican. She has arranged and played for the Nu Civilisation Orchestra and wrote the original score for BBC Radio 3’s ‘Gatsby in Harlem’, which won 3 awards at the British Audio Awards, one being the prestigious Audio of The Year. Alongside playing with other artists, her solo project, The Emily Tran Quintet, is a sonic collage of influences , shedding light on her varied musical upbringing – from playing piano and organ in the Vietnamese Church as a child, to more recently studying classical composition at the Royal Academy of Music. Her versatility has made her an in-demand player and composer and has seen her play at Love Supreme Festival, Brick Lane Jazz Festival and We Out Here. The music is spirited, with a quiet intensity that makes the band one to watch out for!
