Loose Egusi Afro Disco makes an auspicious debut at the Fox and Firkin hosting the after party for the Osibisa – Ghana Independence Day special with a late night club session celebrating the past, present, and futures of African & Afro music with Kilengi Dance Party host, solo producer artist and Little Simz Bassist Marla Kether alongside esteemed vinyl selector Volta45 plus host Loose Egusi bringing his infectious energy and potent funk.

The Loose Egusi Afro Disco is a Pan-African radio, research, and dancefloor project, bridging the gaps between continental & diasporic, traditional & experimental, and the past, present, and futures of African & Afro music.

MARLA KETHER
Born in London to Congolese parents, Marla Kether is a bassist, producer, DJ and founder of Kilengi Dance Party. She has rapidly honed her craft and has been busy taking her high-energy sets around the world, securing bookings at Glastonbury, Outlook and supporting Loyle Carner on his US tour in addition to playing in the live band.

VOLTA45
Volta45 is a London based dj renowned for his unique style – a heady mix of jazzy and percussive sounds from Africa, South America and the French Caribbean.

A regular on the European and UK music festival circuit he has got
dance 􏰀floors moving from Turin to the glorious 􏰁fields of the Shambala Festival.

He co-compiled Kalita records’ best-selling album, Borga Revolution – a compilation of crossover West African music in􏰀uenced by synthesizers, disco and boogie.

LOOSE EGUSI
Loose Egusi has reached audiences worldwide on dancefloors and airwaves, featuring at the London Jazz Festival, legendary weekly jam Steam Down, on NTS Radio (UK), Lusophonica (Portugal), and the BBE Store (London), while holding monthly residencies on The Boat Pod and Soho Radio (NYC/London). Expect shimmering soukous and soca, intricate afrobeat and Congolese polyrhythms, anthemic highlife and afro-jazz melodies, along with choice cuts of funk, disco, jazz, soul, reggae, Hip Hop, gospel, house, and beyond.

Armed with his stacks of vinyl, a library of liner notes, zines, and artwork, Mr. Loose Egusi shares his infectious energy, curated information, and potent funk wherever he plays, embodying and encouraging those core human freedoms; to dance, to sing, to feel, and to dream through African music.
